Navman eSeires beta driver that works with AGPS

TechGT received Navman eSeries's beta driver on 3-19-2003 from Navman Corporation.   After tested by several Navman GPS owners, it is proven to work with AGPS for MapPoint correctly.    However since it is a beta version, you have to read the following carefully before you decide to install the beta version on your system:

  1. YOU ARE ON YOUR OWN IF YOU SELECT TO INSTALL THE BETA DRIVER.  NEITHER TECHGT NOR NAVMAN CAN GUARANTEE ANYTHING WITH THIS DRIVER.   NEITHER TECHGT NOR NAVMAN ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSE OF YOUR SYSTEM OR ANY DAMAGE CAUSED BY THIS BETA DRIVER.
  2. DO NOT INSTALL THE DRIVER IF YOU ARE NOT PREPARED FOR UNEXPECTED SYSTEM CRASH.  BACK UP YOUR SYSTEM AND DO ALL THE NECESSARY SYSTEM RECOVERY PROTECTION BEFORE THE INSTALLATION.
  3. WAIT FOR THE RELEASE VERSION FROM NAVMAN CORPORATION IF YOU ARE NOT SURE WITH YOUR SYSTEM.
  4. TECHGT DOES NOT INVOLVED WITH THE DEVELOPMENT OF NAVMAN'S DRIVER.  ALL QUESTIONS SHOULD DIRECT TO NAVMAN CORPORATION.

The beta driver has 3 files, please download them all.
NAVMANUsb11028.zip (125KB)
GPSFinder1001.zip (85 KB)

Please read the following release note for further installation detail:

Subject: USB GPS Driver Update- Beta

Beta Driver Participant,

Thank you for purchasing you Navman e Series GPS. Currently this product will only work with the Rand McNally Street Finder Deluxe software that it ships with out of the box. You have contacted us previously about using this product with other software applications that are looking for the GPS data on a traditional serial COM port. This beta driver will emulate the next available COM port on your PC for use with these other applications.

This installation is fairly difficult for a novice PC user. PLEASE LOOK AT THE USB DRIVER BETA FOR MORE COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS. The necessary files are attached in the two .zip folders. There are two parts of the installation. First is an application that will install the driver for the USB GPS, "Navman USB 11028". Then there is a GPS Finder application that runs in the system tray and shows the COM port the USB GPS has been connected to. "GPSFinder" is a beta of the e-hunter port finding application as a system tray icon. In 2k/XP you can even change the port number from the system tray icon (right click on icon) and adjust the transmit and receive buffers needed for many applications. This allows you to find and set the appropriate port in your particular software application. The 'advanced settings' option that allows you to do this is only available on 2K/XP (not on 98 and Me). Hovering with the mouse should show a tooltip which includes the port name(s) of connected devices.
